'Nuff said.
@oldshuntr Agreed! This one and "WarGames" (1983) are 2 of my fave "WW3 Scenario" films for us Cold War kids... I lived thru the second half of the cold war... born in 1968 and lived thru the collapse of the USSR in 1991, so I wasn't in the hardcore fearful days of "duck and cover" H-bomb, Cuban Missile Crisis fear days like my parents were, BUT it was still scary stuff! If I remember correctly 1984 was the closes we got to annihilation of the earth via the "Doomsday Clock" although us kids didn't know it. I would have thought it would have been in the 50's or 60's for sure, but I guess old Reagan's "Star Wars" anti-ICBM stuff really scared the Soviets even tho' it didn't really work. I read some stuff that the USSR thought we were going to invade them after a few tactical nuke hits in 1985 and they got Scary close to launching a first strike on us. Luckily, cooler heads prevailed at the Kremlin and later they found out the U.S. and allies were just doing war games in Germany! *WHEW*
@James_Dean One of my top ten's for many years still!
Watching this right now! Always a "guilty pleasure" to watch this Cold War era classic! I was 15-16 when It came out and we kids LOVED this thing! We fancied ourselves American Guerilla Warfare soldiers and imagined what we would do if they soviets ever invaded the U.S.! Especially here in Texas, U.S. they would have a serious hard time with guerrilla warfare... There is so much inhospitable land (hot, swamps, deserts, etc...) that we Texans are used to but I think the average Soviet Russian would have had a hard time dealing with. PLUS, about every Texan has at least 2 firearms or more! o O! I know most people even if they don't have a handgun (which I find are dangerous and I don't care for personally) they have at least 1 shotgun and 1 bolt action type "hunting" aka "sniper/battle" rifle... A lot of people have old WW2 rifles that are 50-100 years old and can take a lot of abuse... But I digress! Back to my movie! Have a good nite all! I give this film 5 stars out of a possible 5... Time to Overdose on Nostalgia! :P
any one knw if we guuna have any links for the new one would really like to c if its anything like this one
The movie halting mid-stream isn't a bad link. Just happens sometimes. Matter of fact, I was just watching The Watch, and although it happened twice I was able to simply refresh the browser, skip ahead to where I was in the movie, and keep right on watching through to the end. Don't flag a link just because it stopped playing mid-stream. That's bogus.
first war movie i ever saw when i was a kid and i have loved it ever since.
