I honestly forgot how good this film is. Never liked Eric Bana in the role, But Norton nails it. Also, if you're an Avengers fan, check for the nice cameo near the end, and again, Avengers fans, Bruce Banner references this movie in the first Avengers film :D
can't wait to see hulk in action again! :)
This was a great film! Eric Bana has NOTHING on Edward Norton. He's great, and so is Liv Tyler. This was a great movie. I watched it last night... watching it again tonight! 8.5/10
Marvel got it right. Audience wants to see "Hulk Smash!" - and we do. Makes for great summer popcorn flick!
I felt that the trailer already revealed a bit too much, because the storyline is somewhat predictable. In summary, the film has to offer great visuals and pretty much everything you expect from a comic film-adaptation, not more and not less.
I JUST SAW THE INCREDIBLE HULK YESTERDAY AT AN EARLY SHOWING IN NYC. IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE THIS MOVIE IS SO GOOD MARVEL HAS DONE A GREAT JOB WITH IT, ANYONE WHO IS HESITATING ON WATCHING THIS IS SELLING THEMSELVES SHORT, AND REALLY JUST CHEATING YOURSELF FROM A GREAT MOVIE. MARVEL IS 2 FOR 2, THIS MOVIE IS JUST AS GOOD AS IRON MAN AND I HAVE TO SAY THE ACTION SCENES WERE BETTER THAN IRON MAN'S. AND TO COMPARE THIS TO THE FIRST HULK MOVIE IN THE BEST WAY THAT I HAVE HEARD IT IS FROM THE REVIEW FROM AINTITCOOL.COM THAT SAID.... "Well THE INCREDIBLE HULK -- is very much like the re-invention that happened to STAR TREK on STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN. Now -- I love THE INCREDIBLE HULK, but it isn't quite STAR TREK II great -- but it's outstanding." BASICALLY THE FIRST MOVIE IS QUIET AND CEREBRAL AND THE SECOND IS BALLS TO THE WALL WHITE KNUCKLED NO HOLDS BARRED ACTION. THE MOVIE ITSELF WAS AWESOME AND I AM HAPPY TO SAY THE 26 MINUTE FIGHT SCENE AT THE END WAS IN NO WAY AN EXAGGERATION. ALSO IF SOME HAVE DOUBTS THAT I HAVE ALREADY SEEN IT HERE IS A LITTLE PROOF THAT I HAVE SEEN IT, I WILL SAY THIS * * * POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT * * * * * * YOU WILL ALL GET A KICK OUT OF THE LEADER SET UP FOR THE SEQUEL IT'S REALLY WELL DONE.* * * ALSO ANYONE WHO HASN'T SEEN AN EPISODE OF THE TV SHOW IN AWHILE, OR AT ALL FOR THAT MATTER, MAKE SURE YOU WATCH ONE, ANYONE. THE REASON I SAY THAT IS BECAUSE THERE ARE A LOT OF EASTER EGGS AND FAN FARE HIDDEN ALL THROUGHOUT THE MOVIE. I'LL SAY THIS PAY ATTENTION TO NAMES AND TELEVISION SCREENS SO YOU DON'T MISS ANYTHING. BUT PLEASE ALL YOU HULK FANS OUT THERE THAT ARE WORRIED, DON'T BE BECAUSE THIS MOVIE IS ON PAR WITH IRON MAN AND I AM SO GLAD I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO GOTO AN ADVANCE SCREENING. MAKES ME LOOK VERY FORWARD TO NEXT WEEK A WHOLE LOT MORE, AND CANT WAIT TO SEE IT AGAIN AND AGAIN ALL THROUGH THE SUMMER.
This HULK will Smash ...and Smash again....NON stop action from beginning to end 4 stars + The exact movie we needed to see with all the nonsense and high gas prices ..Go see the HULK he will make you feel better...He will Smash everything so you don't have to.. Much better then the first one...Marvel Studios has captured the real hulk. Regards JMacky
So because I'm "in the industry" I got to check out an advanced screening of Incredible Hulk. Overall I thought the movie was pretty great, but there are some flaws as well. There was some pretty great dialogue which sort of stunned me, even from Liv Tyler which blew my mind. There's some pretty good references and throwbacks, such as Lou Ferrigno as a security guard (who's still so ripped you could've painted him green and sent him out there, but then again I guess making 12 appearances a year at comic conventions leaves you with a lot of downtime), a funny mistranslation of "you wouldn't like me when I'm angry". There is a cameo by Robert Downey as Iron Man discussing the Avengers, but no Samuel L. Jackson (i'm pretty sure I read he was supposed to be in this one) and I stayed all the way through the credits. However, I remember hearing something that the Nick Fury thing wasn't at the end of advanced screenings of Iron Man so maybe it's still to come? I thought that Edward Norton did a great job, and I really liked the transformations. Having a ridiculous change between Banner to Hulk could've ruined the believability, or at least suspended it for a great deal but I thought they did an appropriate job. Now, I like exploding stuff as much as the next dork, but I couldn't suspend my disbelief for a thirty minute downtown Harlem fight scene with two CGI monsters. If I'm in on the aciton in a video game, I have an easier time buying it but I just couldn't keep watching two fake guys fight, I just didn't care what was happening (I will say, though, that I had to pee like 5 minutes in so by the time the movie reached denouement I was ready to cy). Thought Roth did a great job, Ross came out fairly one-dimensional which I guess is to be expected as he kind of has a one-track mind. The biggest thing going against this one is how great I thought Iron Man was. I'd say it's the best comic book movie out there other than the Batmans being made by Nolan and I actually really enjoyed Sin City as well. I'm not sure if you read the hub-bub but Edward Norton didn't like the cut of the movie and argued the editing to Marvel. Though he admitted their cut was more commercial, he thought his was better for the sake of the film. In the end Marvel won and there may be a rift between the star and the studio that could prevent a sequel (which is good for comic movies because you have to spend so much time with characterizations in order to connect the audience to the people in the tights, that's why X-Men 2 was so much more action-packed and I think better), or prevent him as Hulk in an Avengers movie. Zak Penn, who wrote this movie along with X Men 3 United We Stand, is also writing the scripts for Captain America and the Avengers. These gems, along with Inspector Gadget (the movie with Matthew Broderick), and Elektra make me nervous. I'm more excited about the Wolverine movie penned by David Benioff who wrote the book and corresponding script to the Edward Norton drama 25th Hour which I loved! All in all, it's worth the ten bucks I think, but it's definitely not one of the best comic book movies ever, but an improvement over Ang Lee's abortion of a Hulk film.
The Hulk. Was pretty much awesome. It was very enjoyable and made of pure win. : )
TIGHT
This was a great Hulk movie. Finally something well done. Ed Norton is the perfect Bruce Banner. This is a must see. I love the Iron Man tie in too. All I can say is bring on the Avengers.
:rotten: Awful mess. It is like somebody could not decide if they wanted to make a video game or a live action movies or an animated feature. Constant cringe moments when they utter canned lines from the TV series.
this movie may not be the next iron man, but I think this will be very impressive. entertaining, nice graphics, great script, just flat-out awesome. Everything looks good. but there is one thing: the first one in 2003. now i'm not sure if this is a sequel or not. but that makes this one iffy, and better. so I think it will be an B rating.
This certainly qualifies as a must see movie. Even in an era when an explosion of comic-book superheroes are hitting the big screen, Hulk stands alone. This has nothing to do with being a blind superhero fan. It has everything to do with the classic Jekell and Hyde story with a great twist and awesome spectacles everywhere you look. There are plenty of scenes that you have to see to believe. The concluding battle is one for the ages. What's special is that it is held together by some great acting and a sci-fi but believable story (so very rare for a summer "blockbuster") Banner is likable and the Hulk isn't some victim, he's the hero this time around. I love this movie and I'm confident anyone going to see it with an open mind, looking for fun will enjoy it as well.
The movie is excellent, as it's basically filmed at a frantic pace, but it all fits together. Banner is on the runs, constantly, but wouldn't you be if you were subjected to this "problem." The action, of course, is there in plentiful quantities, and it's provides lots of candy for fans. The movie is well paced, although I'm hoping for an extended cut with lot of that missing 70 mins mention by Leterrier. Great performances by Roth, Norton, Tyler and the rest of the cast...bravo
this is one of the best type of comic book heroes and ever and the they cast and directers have pulled it off to make an acceptional movie that is as good as this years iron man
Finally someone could portray the real Hulk!
While Ang Lee decided to play shrink in the 2003 version of "Hulk", Louis Letterier lets the action dictate the pace and allows us to lose ourselves in a character we already know. Most of us still feel the sting of Ang Lee's attempt and thank goodness they get it right this time. For those who don't know the Hulk, the movie opens with a great credits sequence that gives you flashes of the origin before it drops you in the middle of a story already in motion. The Incredible Hulk was never about pyschobabble, as it was more a man on the run. Edward Norton is great in the role, great enough, in fact, to sell the CGI Hulk when he appears. Louis Leterrier does a fine job of keeping the movie running and lets the momentum build towards the first semi glimpse of our no so jolly green hero. Norton spends the first act of the movie in South America (Brazil), blending in, looking for a cure. He works at a bottling factory. This was far and away my favorite sequence in the movie. It's not as big or hollywoodish, but that's what I loved about it. Leterrier treats it as a horror scene. The Hulk appears but is kept in the shadows of the factory. He starts picking off the thugs and soldiers and the soldiers and local ruffians are horrified. You hear the destruction then you see it a second later, just missing Hulk in the act. And the sound design... that's what sells the scene. In many ways we are the eyes of Tim Roth's Emil Blonsky for this sequence and just as he is awed by what is going on, so was I. The reality is that Norton and Roth both play the hell out of the movie and have you invested in their characters so when they're CG creatures you still picture Norton and Roth and carry that baggage with you.Liv Tyler, William Hurt and Tim Blake Nelson are all strong in the supporting cast. There is a little King Kong or Beauty and the Beast to Betty and Hulk's relationship... but there's also an undercurrent of the abusive husband going on. Norton's torn up, he's driven to cure himself and control his anger by the fact that he hurt Betty when he first transformed. She doesn't look at it that way, but he sure does. It haunts him, it drives him. In other words, it gives him real character. I can say that this movie is no where near full of itself as Lee's was. His artful attempt at this iconic hero went amiss and nearly buried the emerald beast. The Incredible Hulk does what is is intended to do and that is smash! You will find yourself cheering as soon as you hear "Hulk Smash!"
